Weekend Turn Around

My weekend was jam packed full of things to-do and events to attend. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to enjoy everything I had planned because last week pretty much sucked but I was determined not to have it negatively affect my plans for the weekend!

Friday

My hair was in deserpate need of help so Friday after work I went straight to the salon to get it cut and colored.

When I got home I had a couple slices of pepperoni and green olive pizza with a salad. The pictures were not good so I will spare you the pain of looking at them 😉

Saturday

Saturday was a day filled with excitement, fun and learning.

Bertolli invited me to spend the day with them for the Into the Heart of Chicago event. We traveled around the city to experience authentic Italy in Chicago through the eyes of Bertolli – It was AMAZING! I will be sharing an entire post in regards to the tour so look for it in the next week!

Later that night I met my husband and bil at the movie theatre to see the X-Men: First Class:

I thought it was a pretty good movie. Of course it was filled with action scenes but the story was okay too. Immediatly after seeing this movie I wanted to watch the previous X-Men movies 🙂

Sunday

Woke up early (for me) around 8:00am so that I could get ready and meet my husband, bil and cousins for brunch. It was decided we we would try a place called Deleece. The atmosphere was laid back and the crowd was mixed in ages. It was a great environment for a Sunday brunch.

The menu had a mix of traditional and unique brunch items. I had a difficult time deciding what I wanted but ended up going with the breakfast mac – white cheddar mac and cheese with bacon topped with 2 sunny eggs:

I know the above combination probably sounds strange to a lot of you but it was delicious! I’ve come to realize over-easy eggs are pretty good on lots of dishes.

And an oranje juice to wash it down:

After brunch we walked around for a bit to explore the neighborhood. It was great to catch-up and chat with family. I really need to take the time to do this more often.

So that was my weekend update! It was packed full of things to do and places to be but I enjoyed every minute of it 😀

Question:

What was the best part of your weekend?

I know a lot of folks who don’t eat eggs (they’re allergic, for health reasons, or concerns about animal cruelty). Here’s an awesome site that gives tips on cooking and baking without eggs: http://EggFreeLiving.com
